Privacy policy

Lahgog is an app for birthdays and events. Your list is yours: without an account it stays only on your phone; with an account it is also kept in the cloud so it reaches any phone you sign in on, and you can turn that off at any time. We don't sell data, use it for advertising or build profiles from it.

Without an account

People, events, notes, tags, photos and reminders stay on the phone. Reminders are scheduled on the phone. Contacts are read only on the phone, when you import birthdays or link a contact. A backup file goes wherever you choose to save it.

With an account

• Account: your email address, or your Google account (name, email and photo Google provides at sign-in).
• Profile: username, a short bio and a profile photo (visible to everyone), your birthday (kept only while you choose to share it, and only with the people you chose), and the skin you use.
• Friends, groups and chats: friend requests, friendships, blocks and reports, groups and chats, messages and reactions, and events planned in a chat (who's coming, who brings what).
• Cloud copy: your list (people, events, notes, tags, reminders, memory details and preferences), so it reaches any phone you sign in on. On by default; turn it off or delete it on the "Backup and data" page. Links to your phone's contacts are not sent.
• Photos: people's photos, memories and event pictures are kept in your own Google Drive, in a folder only Lahgog can see, once you allow it. They don't pass through our servers.
• Notifications: your phone's notification token, to tell you about friend requests and chat messages (can be turned off).
• Support and ads: store purchases and voluntary tips are recorded on the account to show your stars and your place on the supporters board. Ads appear only when you choose to watch one for a reward.

AI

When you choose to fill an event with AI, the sentence you wrote (up to 500 characters) or the photo you picked, with your tag names, goes to our server and on to Anthropic (Claude), or OpenAI if Claude is unavailable, to read the dates. We don't store the photo. The answer is kept for up to a day so the same question isn't asked twice, and we record when you used AI and which model, for the daily allowance and costs. AI can make mistakes, so you always see what it filled before saving.

Finding friends from contacts

If you choose it (only after an explanation and your consent), the phone numbers in your contacts are turned on the phone into one-way codes (hashes) and compared with existing accounts. We keep only the matches found, not the list. A hash of a phone number can be reversed by trying every possible number, so we treat it as personal data.

Share links

An "add in Lahgog" link for an event or a list carries the names, event types and dates inside the link itself, so the person who gets it can add them. Anyone with the link can read them, so send it only to the people who need it.

Who else is involved

• Supabase: our server and database, in the London region.
• Google: Google sign-in, Google Drive for photos (in your account), Android's notification services, and ads you choose to watch (AdMob).
• Expo: app updates and sending notifications. A chat notification includes the sender's name and the start of the message.
• Anthropic and OpenAI: only when you use AI, as above.
• Sentry: crash reports (EU region), without your name, email or list content.
• Resend: sending the sign-in code by email.
• Google Play / RevenueCat: store purchases.

Your rights

• See: "Download my data" on the profile page downloads everything the server keeps about your account, including the cloud copy.
• Delete the cloud copy: on the "Backup and data" page. The list on your phone stays.
• Delete your account: on the profile page. The account, profile and profile photo, friendships, your messages, the cloud copy and the photos in Drive are deleted. Groups and events you created stay for the other members, without your name. Reports you filed are kept without identifying you.
• Delete everything on the phone: "Delete all data" on the "Backup and data" page.

Children

The app is for ages 13 and up. If we learn an account belongs to a child under 13, we delete it.

Security and retention

Server data is accessible only to its account, over encrypted connections. Data is kept while the account exists and deleted with it. Sent notifications are deleted after a week.
